Description	New Fight Song Scores Big Hit. New Composition by Co-eds Wins Favor of Student Body – Fills Long Felt Want. The new college song, composed by Phyllis Sayles and Zella Melcher was sung for the first time at the Associated Students assembly February 20 and at once scored a hit. Not only the words, but the music as well, possess a swing that might well be described as fully equal if not surpassing any college song written. The fact that the words feature Washington State instead of W.S.C. or any other favored name of the past, makes the song that much more acceptable to the present spirit. In response to the call for a new college song that the campus has for so long felt the need of, Miss Melcher and Miss Sayles came forward with an original composition that bids fair to become the most popular one on the campus. Miss Melcher, of Glee Club fame, composed the words and Miss Sayles, formerly of Northwestern University, wrote the music. Both of the young ladies are music majors and expect to graduate this year. Miss Sayles has done considerable composing before corning here, having written the music for a number of the national songs for the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Miss Sayles and Miss Melcher are both members of Mu Phi, the new honorary musical sorority. Fight, fight, fight for Washington State! Win the victory! Win the day for Crimson and Gray! Best in the west, we know you'll all do your best, so on, on, on, on! Fight to the end! Honor and glory you must win! So fight fight fight for Washington State! And victory!
