Description	In one of the more interesting exchanges regarding civil rights, constituent C.E. McBeth writes Catherine May a note on a brochure titled, "Civil Rights is a Fraud!" McBeth laments Congress' "pampering" of the rioters, and asserts that riot should be "...met with machine guns." The brochure advertises a special presentation by Charles E. Smith which supposedly exposes the Communist connection to the civil rights movement. It discusses Martin Luther King's connection to efforts by the Communists to confuse and divide Americans under the guise of civil rights. May writes back with a carefully worded response which avoids making the issue one of color. She supports the idea that the riots are of serious concern, and offers only this advice, "We are all going to have to work at creating a better world if we are going to convince those young people who have become frustrated and disillusioned..."
