Description	In this letter Hattie Bryan, founder of the Matron's Club (which later became the Washington State University Women's Club), asks her female colleagues to join her in an organization meant to, "...foster the same friendly spirit that has always prevailed here, it would be possible that something might be lost of that which has endeared us to each other." In light of the rapid growth experience by the college, the Matron's Club provided a forum through which new faculty wives could get meet and befriend other wives. The club was strictly social until the 1970s when "interest groups" where added to its list of functions.
