Description	Spokane pioneer Matron thrilled by plans to restore new Salem in illinois-Abraham Lincoln spent six years there-friend of family . Mrs. Anna Regnier Combest, 2820 Dena avenue, Spokane, is a real pioneer. She was born and married in Petersburg, III., coming with her family to the northwest in 1887. She recalls Spokane as a flourishing little village before the fire of 1889. Her husband, Shelby Combest, who was a stone mason and carpenter by profession, was busily engaged in that line of work in the early days.
